Researchers in Smith Sound off Trinity Bay, Nfld, have discovered odd cod behaviour -- male and female cod have been seen stacked one atop the other in dense columns rising tens of metres from near the ocean bottom. These columns remain for weeks at a time, with individual cod regularly moving in and out. Researchers suspect it’s some form of foreplay.
