Join us in celebrating a victory!
We wanted to tell you the good news: we’ve moved the federal government to issue its first-ever emergency protection order for the Greater Sage-Grouse!
Back in September, we promised that we’d keep you connected to the latest news on the Greater Sage-Grouse, and we’re pleased to let you know that your voice, and those of thousands of concerned Canadians, was heard loud and clear.
Just last week, the federal government issued a precedent-setting, emergency protection order that will limit new oil and gas development in 1,700 square kilometers of Sage-Grouse habitat. You helped make this important victory happen, thank you!
Nature Canada has been pushing for stronger protections for our Greater Sage-Grouse for years and last week we joined the greater conservation community in welcoming this news. However, our conservation and legal experts warn more work needs to be done by governments at all levels to ensure the Sage-Grouse is to survive.
Of course, we will keep you informed as this story develops, and promise to keep you connected to the latest news about how your support makes a difference both for this important at-risk species and on other issues around the country.
Thank you again for your support on our work to protect endangered and beloved species like our Greater Sage-Grouse. Together, we are Canada’s voice for nature.
Yours for nature,
P.S. Your voice for nature is strongest when you are member of our Guardians of Nature monthly giving program—please consider joining me as a Guardian today!
