Ontario Tribunal Rules in Favour of Biodiversity
The threatened Blanding’s Turtle stands at the centre of a decision to stop the construction of a proposed wind energy plant in a globally significant Important Bird Area on the shores of Lake Ontario. The Tribunal’s recent ruling represents a victory for threatened species and for the large numbers of migrating birds that congregate and breed in the IBA.
A win for nature

In Conversation with Chris Tollefson
We sat down with Chris to talk about his legal team’s pro bono work on behalf of Nature Canada and BC Nature during the Northern Gateway Pipeline review process. Chris walks us through pivotal moments in the hearings and shares his thoughts on Enbridge’s claims regarding the impact of oil spills.

Youth Take the Stage
Two budding birders, passionate about their pastime and eager to share their knowledge took the stage at the 2013 BirdLife International World Congress held in Ottawa in June. Meet these two young naturalists and hear what they had to say on youth and birding at one of the world’s premier gatherings of conservation leaders.

Tweet! Tweet!
Hone your birding skills by tuning in to CBC Radio One’s In Town and Out for the Tweet of the Week, a segment that features a bird commonly found in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Learn to recognize bird calls and discover the habits and habitats that define the area’s bird species.

Welcome Back the Birds Contest Winners
We asked naturalist groups to tell us about their International Migratory Bird Day event for the chance to win $500. We received two outstanding submissions and couldn’t choose just one winner, so we chose two! Watch the winning videos from the Nova Scotia Nature Trust and Rocky Point Bird Observatory.

A Farmer’s Gift to Nature
Lloyd Alva Clapp's fondness for nature led him to start a farming business that put him in touch with nature and spurred a life-long committment to conserving wildlife.
